Manchester Arena bomber moved to Belmarsh after prison attack
Manchester Arena bomber Hashem Abedi has been moved to HMP Belmarsh after he attacked guards at a prison in County Durham.
Sources told the BBC Abedi was transferred to the high-security London prison after he threw hot oil at officers in HMP Frankland and stabbed them with improvised blades on Saturday.
It comes as Martin Hibbert, a survivor of the Manchester Arena attack, criticised how Abedi was given the “comfort and privilege” of kitchen facilities and said he was furious the pain of survivors was being so “blatantly disrespected”.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has said there will be a full, independent review into the incident.
Abedi, who helped his older brother Salman plan the Manchester Arena attack, was jailed for life with a minimum 55 years in prison after being convicted of murdering 22 people in the 2017 attack.
