Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a complete ban on beef consumption in public places, including hotels, restaurants, and community events.
This decision, taken during a cabinet meeting via video conferencing, strengthens Assam’s cattle prohibition laws. Previously, the ban was limited to areas within 5 km of temples; now, it applies statewide.
The CM highlighted that the earlier rules lacked provisions for community festivals, hotels, and restaurants, which are now addressed under the new law.
