Last day of campaign for Phase 3 polls

Campaigning for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections will end today at 6 pm. Candidates are going the extra mile to woo voters and secure their mandate amid the democratic fervour. Amrit Pal Singh reports from Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh. With 10 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh going to polls in the third phase on May 7, election campaigning in India’s politically most crucial State, reached a crescendo with all the political parties hitting top gear. In many of the seats in phase three, the BJP is locked in a direct fight against the SP-led INDIA bloc, with the Bahujan Samaj Party is aiming to make the contest three-cornered. While the BJP is seeking votes on the plank of Modi and Yogi government’s achevements, the Samajwadi Party is appealing to its traditional vote bank with an emotional pitch.
