In a significant breakthrough, the Jammu & Kashmir Police seized a record 33 kgs of a heroin-like substance worth more than 33 crores in the Bus Stand area of Jammu yesterday. ADGP Anand Jain addressed the media at a press conference held at the District Police Line, Jammu. During the press conference, ADGP Jain revealed that the Police Station Bus Stand received reliable information about a suspect named Harmeet Singh (name changed) from Punjab, who was traveling from Akhnoor towards Bus Stand with a substantial consignment of heroin-like substance. A special naka was set up by the police party, and the suspect was apprehended with a bag containing 26 packets of the substance, weighing approximately 33 kgs. An FIR 41/2024 under sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Bus Stand, and an investigation has commenced. Preliminary findings suggest that the accused may have obtained the consignment from border areas and was transporting it to Punjab.
